Craig Terry is a rising sophomore at Bucknell, class of 2021. He is a double major in English-Film/Media Studies and Psychology. As a high school student, he grew interests in media representation, specifically representations of black people in films. Craig was born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia-Kingsessing. Growing up in Philly provided many obstacles: structural racist activity, lack of community investment, and poor political standards.
Along with his passion for film, these components cemented his interests in public art and community development. As a young man, Craig has been interested in the ways film depicts the lives of African Americans, black neighborhoods, and mental health. His project examines demographic information of mainstream Hollywood films that illustrate the lives of those dealing with mental and neurological illnesses/disorders. This project is meant to assess the racial and gender demographics of symptomatology and clinical professional representation.
